Tune your bass guitar with the microphone of your phone or computer. The bass preset is already selected: press the microphone, play a string, and the tuner shows the note and whether it is too low or too high.

The bass is tuned like the four lowest guitar strings, one octave lower.
How to tune a bass in 3 steps
- Press the microphone button and allow microphone access when your browser asks.
- Pluck one open string firmly and let it ring. The tuner shows the note and a needle: left is flat, right is sharp.
- Turn the tuning key until the needle stays in the centre. Repeat for every string.
Tips for tuning a bass
- The low E sounds at only 41 Hz, and phone and laptop microphones hear it poorly. Play the harmonic at the 12th fret: it sounds one octave higher, so the tuner shows E2 instead of E1.
- An electric bass is quiet without an amp. Hold the microphone close to the amp speaker, or to the body of the bass.
- Tune up to the note: if a string is sharp, loosen it a little below the note and bring it back up.
- Without a microphone, tap a note button under the menu to hear its reference tone and tune by ear.
